Hi Erini! We’re so glad you’re doing everything to take the best care of your new husky baby. We put together this pet insurance comparison chart for pet parents like yourself. Although Healthy Paws is the #1 customer-rated pet insurance, you’re correct that it doesn’t cover wellness visits or preventative care. Other pet insurance companies, like Embrace and Trupanion, offer wellness coverage, but you’ll see that the monthly price is considerably higher. Additionally, many plans with wellness options have a cap on how much they’ll reimburse you for vaccines and other regular vet care. Many pet parents find that wellness coverage it isn’t cost effective after all. If you’re still interested in wellness plans, compare Embrace vs. Trupanion. Get quotes for each and explore how much they’ll actually pay for wellness. Otherwise, your best option is definitely Healthy Paws. Regardless which plan you decide to go with, it’s best to get your pup insured as soon as possible so there’s no risk of her developing a pre-existing condition that would be denied by any pet insurance company.
Peace & Paws, Pet Insurance U
Hi there, we assure you these reviews are not fake. Integrity is very important to us since a pet’s health or life could be at stake if a pet owner uses our site to review pet insurance. Is there something you’d like us to add to our Healthy Paws reviews?
Thanks for your comment, Charles! We’re so glad to hear that your pet is being well cared for. Feedback like yours helps us keep our Healthy Paws reviews up to date for other pet parents who are shopping for pet insurance. We really appreciate it! Best health to your pet!
Hi Kimberly, we recommend checking directly with the pet insurance before you switch. Waiting periods can be a tricky issue to get around and we wouldn’t want your dog to be without coverage in case another issue pops up that won’t be covered. As you can see, our pet insurance comparisons include Trupanion and Healthy Paws. Honestly, they’re both great plans. One of the main things to be aware of is Trupanion’s per condition deductible. If your dog has multiple health issues in a year, paying the deductible over and over can really add up. Check out the pet insurance comparison chart for more info and please let us know if you have any questions at all! We’re sorry to hear about your puppy’s ACL tear, we had the same experience with our Bulldog puppy. Wishing best health to your pup!
Hi Md J, we think you’ll be in great hands with Healthy Paws. Their plan is comprehensive and affordable, and Healthy Paws reviews are consistently the highest in the industry. Click on any of the links on this page to get more info or a quote from Healthy Paws. Wishing your pet the best of health!
Diann, thanks for sharing about your policy renewal and we’re very sorry to hear that they’ve increased your costs. It’s particularly disheartening since your pets are older and need good coverage now more than ever. We’ll factor your experience into our Petplan pet insurance reviews.
Again, we’re sorry this happened and we appreciate that your experience will help other pet parents who are considering Petplan for their dog or cat. Unfortunately, like you said, pre-existing conditions prevent you from changing to another plan, so we hope that at least Petplan honors claims and reimburses you for veterinary costs.
Wishing good health to your pets!
Hi Travise, we absolutely agree with you. Our pets are certainly part of the family! VPI Pet Insurance became Nationwide Pet Insurance, so VPI technically no longer exists. Therefore, we don’t have an update to our VPI pet insurance reviews. You can read more about Nationwide or other companies on our reviews page or in our pet insurance comparison chart. Please let us know if you have any more questions. Best health to your pet!
Hi Nichole, many dogs are sensitive to the smell or taste of apple cider vinegar, so we recommend diluting it until they’ll drink it. If you add it to their bowl and find that they aren’t drinking as much water as usual, consider diluting it more or using less ACV. As an alternative, you can try adding it to their food, perhaps splitting it into 2 doses: 3/4 TBSP in the morning and the 3/4 TBSP in the evening. In the end, if you have to give less in order for them to get it down, that’s okay too. Even 1 TSP per day of apple cider vinegar is very beneficial for dogs. Best health to your crew, and we hope your girl’s UTI has improved!
Ryan, thank you for sharing and we’re sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, yours is one of the most common and disappointing Nationwide pet insurance complaints. Pet parents trust Nationwide to care for their dog or cat but often find that their claims are denied. You’re stuck paying out of pocket for vet costs and you’ve wasted money on the cost of a Nationwide pet insurance policy. If you have questions about other providers, please let us know. Wishing good health to your pet.
Keydrick, glad we can help! There are so many great uses of apple cider vinegar for dogs. Mild ear infections can be treated at home without a costly vet appointment or antibiotics. Please let us know if you have any questions. Wishing good health to your dog!
Bonnie, thank you for your feedback on Nationwide pet insurance. For a company with a spotty reputation, it seems they’ve taken good care of you and Largent. We’re so glad to hear that! It’s very helpful for real customers like you to provide Nationwide insurance reviews, so that other pet parents can make informed decisions when comparing pet insurance. Thanks again for sharing your experience. We hope Largent graduates past chemo treatment and on to live a happy pup life.
All the best,
Pet Insurance U
Mandie, thank you for such a generous contribution to the Embrace pet insurance review! We can’t thank you enough for all of your feedback. It means a lot to us and, most importantly, to other caring pet parents like you, who would do anything for their pets. Customer reviews are the best way for a person to tell if a pet insurance will work for their family. Your review of Embrace’s coverage and benefits is so helpful! We’re very glad to hear Embrace insurance coverage worked out well for you. Please let us know if we can ever answer any questions! (Although it seems you’ve to it all figured out) 🙂

Hi Lynn and welcome to Pet Insurance U! Thanks for your comment. Our editors’ experiences with PetPremium echoes yours. After several conversations with PetPremium, we found Jeroen and the rest of the staff to be very friendly too. They are still a pretty new company, without the infrastructure of a larger insurance provider like Nationwide, but they’re making a solid effort and are pleasing their customers by providing good service.
Hi Wendy, thanks for your comment. Yes, there are two types of genetic health issues in dogs: The first type of health issue is known as congenital — meaning birth-defects or other health complications arising from the pup’s time inside mom’s tummy. The second type of genetic issue in dogs is called hereditary and these are health problems like cherry eye and hip dysplasia that are passed down through genes.
And yes, the boxer has specific health problems, some congenital and others hereditary. You can find a page describing the health concerns for every popular dog breed on our website and I’ve copied a link below to the Boxer page to make it easy for you 🙂
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
