Here’s How It Works
Liberty Mutual offers two coverage options as well as two wellness plans.
Liberty Mutual Accident Only Insurance
Accident only insurance coverage is offered which means that any treatment or tests are covered if your pet has an accident or gets injured.
Illness is not covered under this plan.
Their broadest coverage is called Complete Coverage which covers all accidents and illness with the widest range of tests and treatment coverage.
Some of the coverage included in this plan:
Two different wellness plans offered with a maximum reimbursement payment annually.
If routine, preventative coverage is of interest to you, then you can add one of the two wellness plans to your pet insurance coverage. They are not offered independently.
Both plans have a list of different treatments or services that they offer and a set amount of money allotted for each treatment or service.
Both Plans Include:
Their Basic wellness plan pays a set amount for each service and their Prime wellness plan pays more for those services. And offers more choices of treatments and services.
Hereditary and Congenital Condition Coverage
Their Complete coverage plan covers any congenital condition or hereditary issue that are not already present upon coverage and then called pre-existing.
Hip dysplasia, with the Complete Coverage plan, will be covered only after 14 days which is really quick.
Most plans have 6 month waiting period for hip dysplasia coverage.
Alternative therapy if you choose their complete coverage plan is included.
Some examples of alternative therapy treatment are:
- all rehab therapy
- aqua, and
Behavioral issues are covered under their Complete Coverage plan and cover issues such as tail chasing, fur pulling, and excessive licking, and destructive chewing.
Chronic conditions are covered under the Complete Coverage plan as long as they aren’t pre-existing.
Benefit limits are the most money a pet insurance company will pay out each year.
With Liberty Mutual, the choices are from $5,000 to unlimited. Each year, you can change the benefit limit amount according to your dog or cats’ needs.
If you choose the unlimited benefit level (which we always recommend), you will have a higher monthly premium rate.
The wellness plans have a specific amount of money you can spend each year on the treatment or service that you use.
There are three reimbursement choices and they range from 70% to 90%.
If you want a lower monthly premium, you can choose the 70% reimbursement. But, then you would have to pay more of the medical bill.
You are reimbursed on the actual vet bill which is in line with the best pet insurance providers.
Liberty offers three deductible choices that need to be paid once each year:
If you want a lower monthly premium than choose the $500 level.
